What is NGV Kids Summer Festival 2022?
The National Gallery of Victoria's NGV Kids Summer Festival will run again this January 2022. The theme of the Festival for Kids is based upon the NGV exhibit The Gecko and the Mermaid: Nyapanyapa and Djerrkŋu Yunupiŋu.
Events at the NGV in Melbourne include Welcome to Country on 15 January 2022, and Drop-by Drawing sessions, as well as relaxed sessions with fewer people and reduced noise and lights.

We are Mermaids - Children make a diorama based upon Djerrkŋu Yunupiŋu’s story about her life as a mermaid before she was born.
Noisy Birds! - Children learn their names of birds in Yolŋu Matha (the language of Yolŋu people) in a drawing and guessing game.
Collecting Maypal - In this board game children play a collecting game and find out about different shellfish known as maypal in Yolŋu Matha (the language of Yolŋu people).
